Title:Why Service Is My Compass — And How It Guides Us
Service has always been more than a role for me — it is a way of seeing the world, and a way of being in it.
For many years, whether serving as President of IMAN, supporting families through Deen Welfare Trust, walking alongside students as chaplain, or advocating for equality as a White Ribbon Ambassador, I have learned one truth above all: we grow most when we lift others up.
My journey has taken me across New Zealand, and to study in Malaysia, and Pakistan. Every place taught me something different — but everywhere, I saw the same human hopes: to belong, to be respected, to have opportunity, and to live in peace.
Here in Wellington, as we welcome people from every corner of the world, our strength lies in how we care for one another. As Chair of Deen Welfare Trust, I see daily the resilience of migrant families, the kindness of volunteers, and the difference we make when we stand together.
This blog will be a space to share those stories — of our community, our students, our challenges, and our hopes. It will be a place to reflect on faith in action, education as empowerment, and harmony as something we build together, day by day.
I don’t have all the answers. But I do have a deep belief: that listening matters, that unity is possible, and that every act of service ripples further than we can see.
Thank you for walking this path with me. Let’s begin.
